Jaws of a Jealous God
05:31
|
|||
the first word I ever heard knocked me back
echoing from deep, where no i c
a lightning bolt to my beating heart
in darkness, crushed, torn apart
in the jaws of a jealous god
we cast off our robes and dive in the river
we cleanse ourselves and drink deep
that we too may be true
we vow to follow this truth
lead us where it may
the truth leads us astray
the river dumps us in a black ocean
flat silent and still
rudderless like every day of our lives
the fog closes in, the stars go dark
we are all finally free

Man Overboard
05:14
|
|||
the daylight fades
red rivers cascade out through the grey
with eyes frozen open
in a grave set adrift, cold, swallowed by fog
it feels like it's hopeless
we go through the motions nevertheless
locking eyes
taking a deep dive
I got the thirst, I need to taste the salt
I'm seeing too clear, I need a sense assault
as far as I know it's not a problem
it happens again and again and again
man overboard
living a lie
mining for diamonds in the whites of my eyes
losing my grip, slipped to the bottom rung
tasting the drip as it numbs my tongue
feeling the love as it fills my lungs
it happens again and again and again
man overboard

Contamination
07:26
|
|||
once precious, now soiled
once pure, now worthless mess
once as true as a lie told by all and believed
it started as a stain on the ceiling
slowly spreading, so strange
a sorrow profound comes down over everything
I am contamination
I'm poison
you are you and I me
a fever fantasy
I expect you to fight until your last breath
it's the way of the world since the day I was born
and the day before
and the day before that
I expect nothing less
cold on a winter morning
pale as a plaster cast, a mask of death
your sorrow leaked out and down through the floorboards
I am contamination
I'm poison
I'm not the end
just the end of the line
